Here’s a direct quote from Penelope Merrell’s book Squawk: A Story in Fowl Language. “Quadk, wack a quack; ack-ack. Eelp, ellp, elp; honk onkhonk; peep, peep, peep.” This delightful little children’s book tells a morality tale without using a single word of human language, but by speaking only with images and bird sounds; i.e., “fowl language.” I got a copy for my grandson, who is not yet 2 years old. I’m not sure what age level it is for. Possibly only adults or older kids can get the cleverly told story, but I’m sure kids of any age can enjoy Merrell’s terrific illustrations.
